As a kid I loved airguns, my dad used to take me shooting every Sunday morning down the river, (couldn't do it now of course) I got back into them last year as I love a little tin can shooting in the garden then sold them all but regretted it, so I've just got myself a couple of pistols and a rifle. I love the co2 replicas and although they aren't the most powerful or accurate they look and cycle just like the real thing. Got a Colt 1911, a Colt Python and a Hatson strikerX wood stock in .177 cal.

So anyone here into airguns? and what do you have and shoot?

Me and a couple of mates use to be into air rifles when we we're younger. Use to go out every sunday to some waste ground near bramford it was full of rabbits and woodies. Had a few diff rifles mostly bsa's back then and of corse weblys. The last rifle prob about 12 years ago was a weihrauch replica underlever which was poky as hell! Would shoot clean through a shed and out the other side. We also got hold of a few sabo pellets which were a brass colour wraped in a plastic casing! They would go through most stuff.. would absolutely love another rifle but these days finding somewhere to shoot and not having armed response at your door would be a mission :D

Yes I know what you mean, I miss going into open spaces with them but I like shooting, not getting shot by the Police lol. Do you not have a garden for a bit of plinking? I was looking to go to a gun club, they said £5.00 per day to shoot on their airgun range, they have an onsite Gun shop and cafeteria so might give that a go. Maybe something you could consider if there are any clubs near you.

No dont really have much of garden mate and like I say I think the neighbours would be straight on the phone to the old bill lol. To be honest ive never herd of any gun clubs around here ipswich to shoot air rifles ??.. but £5 for a days shooting is well worth it plus have some lunch while ya there. Getting permission of a farmer to shoot on his land would be the ideal situation.

I used to be into air guns. Had a couple of Webly Tempests.

Before I left for the USA I had a CO2 powered BB pistol and I swear, this thing could have killed some one. When the cannisters were full it would literally give you serious recoil. I used to go round the shop and buy the cheapest cans of drink I could, shake the fuckers up and then sit and shoot them all out. So much fun !

Can you even buy air pistols these days?

Ive thought about getting an air rifle at some point, (currently own a shotgun). Unlike the rest of the uk. All weapons be it air rifles/pistols, shotguns, rifles and handguns. Have to be held on a firearms certificate over here. I used to do a lot of clay pigeon shooting and owned several high end purpose built guns for this. Dont bother much now as its pretty expensive. Fancy an air rifle for a spot of hunting.

Old pic of the 12 bore.

Though ive lately got into target rifle shooting along with a friend who lets me use his rifle. Hoping to add one on to my licence at some point. Probably a .17/.22 rimfire for starters.

Pistols are very popular here in the UK and they just get more realistic not to mention great fun as you have said. Take a look at this little lot, pistol heaven :D

I used to shoot air rifles in the garden with suffolkboy me bro and go down the lane and shoot targets and what not. The last I had was a .17 rifle that's was very powerful. Also had a powerful air pistol which would go through hard stuff easily but we know what happened to that air pistol don't we suffolkboy?

A new toy, this is the new Dan Wesson 4.5mm 6 inch pellet pistol with a rifled barrel for better accuracy, and no it doesn't fire the 38 specials pictured but it does chamber them, gun is true to a 357 magnum and takes the 38 specials in the chamber just as a real one. Great gun and can highly recommend it. It shoots at 425 feet per second out the box and produces 1.5 inch groupings at 30 feet and I'm a crap shot so could do better in more capable hands, great for can mangling fun. The 357 magnums and 38 specials also chamber in the Colt Python. Just for clarity, the 38 specials pictured are inert deactivated rounds, wouldn't want the flying squad surrounding the house.

Very nice wesson .357. Fired the real thing once a few years ago, mind you only a few full blown .357 rounds. .38's were a lot milder for recoil.

Oh I envy you, I'd love to shoot the real thing, feel really envious of our American friends, I watch a lot of Hickok45 vids and he did the comparison with 38's and 357's, you could see and hear the difference. Love the Smith and Wesson 500 Magnum, that's one mean mother, I think I'd be frightened to fire it though. Here's his video.

Shot with several revolvers and semi automatic pistols, they're still legal here in northern Ireland. Though most are held as personal protection weapons by ex or serving armed forces, police or prison staff.

Not surprised tbh, the militarisation of police in america is crazy. Take the latest incident in ferguson. SWAT teams turning up looking like soldiers on a foreign battlefield. A friend of mine is a former soldier who works as a security contractor in iraq, (convoy and close protection work). He says that us police forces are better armed than some of the private military contract firms.

When I was young(many years ago) I shot loooots with an airgun I had. El gamo .. something. I also had a CO2 revolver, crosman something. And had a few other CO2 rifles and what not.

When I got older I got an FX-2000, very nice rifle and very effective for pest control. Then I started hunting and I sold the FX 2000. Used a Ruger 10/22 for pest control, and a Hatsan 12g semi auto. The thing I've been doing most of is target shooting and competing in that. Mostly with pistols, competing in IPSC for quite a few years. Used Glock 17 and Glock 22 for that.

Haven't fired one single shot in years now though, thinking of selling it all and buy hardware instead lol ;)

Just got my hands on one of these bad boys. Full auto not available out the box but very easy to mod, just look at the smile on the guys face right after shooting.

The laser bore sighter

Image

These things are a god send when sighting in your new guns, very easy to use and it gets you in the ball park very quickly without wasting ammo. Got mine from Amazon for less than £15 and it really get you on the target fast, you still may have to fine tune your settings as pellets follow the laws of gravity while laser beams don't but they sure as hell get you close to your bullseye. How to use a bore sighter vid here..

when i lived on the mainland in hampshire i had 6 air rifles,,had loads of permission to shoot on farmers land and in a big forrest near to where i lived,,loved it,,i used to eat 99% of what i shot eg rabbits and pigeons,,,i got to a point where i could no longer shoot/kill anything though and used to just watch the rabbits play through the scope lol so i joined a local air rifle club to shoot targets,,,the club was GREAT fun!! i advise everyone to join one :) you meet lots of people,,can try lots of rifles and have a bite to eat and a coffe if the club has a cafe,,,all my rifles were .177,,the BEST caliber lol

heres a pic of one of my faves,,bsa auper 10 .177,ps sorry about the bunnys in shot,,hope i havnt broken any rules?

That's a gorgeous stock on your BSA, never owned a pcp but that is going to change in the near future. I really do love springers though, had an Air Arms pro sport with walnut stock but like a fool sold it, really regretting it now but I'll be getting a TX200 shortly. Do you have any experience with stirrup pumps? as I'm thinking about getting one along with a pcp, divers bottle would be nice but for some strange reason I'm scared of cylinders, can't help thinking they gonna explode any minute so may start off with a stirrup pump and I need the exercise.
Totally agree .177 best caliber but my .22 does make big holes in the soup cans with lead pellets lol, also using prometheus pellets when I need the extra velocity. Used to go shooting down the river when I was a kid early 70's with dad and we shot and killed a rat, I felt sick after and I couldn't get that animal out of my mind, I still think about it now and feel terrible, never shot a living creature since and strictly only shoot all thing non living, had a bird fly down in the garden the other day while plinking and it just stood their watching me shoot but then flew off when I got up to get it some bread lol. Love your Weihrauch, that may just be the one I go for, I like the Huntsman classic too
