Spiderman 2 had some good bits, but overall it was a boring uninteresting story.

I've watched loads recently but none really stick out.

Then we watched one called The Banshee Chapter. JFC, it scared the life out of me. I'm not usually one for these Blair Witch type films. Usually the shaking camera makes me feel ill and it just all seems really stupid. But this one hella scared me.

Great film.

It's based on true U.S govt experiments in the 60s. They injected people with a drug that makes their brains turn into antennae. It was part of the mind control experiments they were trying after WW2. Scary as buggery tbh.

Ed. In fact I lied. The Purge (first one) was also a cracker.

Yeah, the way it ended did leave it open for a sequel.

Gravity

Blahhh.. Don't know what all the fuss was about.. Stunning visuals but would have been better with unknown actors.. Just to take the hollywood taste away.

Another shout out for Gurdians of the Galaxy here. Took the boy to watch it last Wednesday, then immediately took the missus the next night to happily watch it again.
Up there with the greatest of sci-fi in my opinion.

This is quite an old movie (2008) and one I missed on circuit, but as I love Guy Richie's work I jumped at the chance to see it the other night. I had been a bit disappointed at his last movie I saw, Revolver, and wondered if Guy Richie had peaked with Snatch. Happily I can say that Richie certainly got his S*** together when he made this one. The story line is good with some very strong acting in all the roles, just love the way that he connects the dots (scenes) and brings the entire movie together in the last few minutes. The depth of role development is quite brilliant with each scene adding substance some to the characters. Heaps of action, enough to keep hubby sat down and not in his shed messing with computers.

The final twist is great especially as we had shell fish for supper that evening.

Well worth a viewing.

Just watched the first sin city, probably the first time in 7-8 years, still brilliant, can't believe it's nearly 10 years old!!

Looking forward to getting some time to go to the cinema to see the new one :)

Malificent - huge surprise as I didn't really want to watch it but was dragged into it under the guise of "Family time", however it was much better than I was expecting and I thoroughly enjoyed it overall. Really good story and well told. 8/10
Noah - Again, I absolutely didn't want to watch this being a consumate atheist and having little desire to watch any biblical bollocks. However my son watched it with my parents and reported that it was really good, so out of respect to him I watched it. Completely surprised by this one too, it was great, and if the bible was more like that I'd consider watching more biblical bollocks :D 8/10

Also making my way through Sword Art Online anime series with my son. The first half of the series is some of the best anime I've seen, especially if you have played WoW or another similar MMO. Their knowledge of their genre is exceptional and the concept is engrossing. Basically a new MMORPG is released on a limited basis to 10000 players, some of them having been in the beta previously. It's a full immersion game played through an Occulus Rift type headset that taps into the central nervous system to provide complete VR. However, the creator ends up trapping all 10000 players in there, with no logout option, and the headset fries the brain of anyone who either dies in game, or has their headset removed in the real world. The only way they can escape is to complete the game which involves beating 100 levels of the game world, each level has a dungeon leading to the next level with a boss to beat. The focus of the story is on a guy who was in the beta, which affects him in various ways, for starters he has a heads up on the game mechanics and the others also view the beta testers as scum who played a part in their captivity. The series starts off really well, with a captivating story and interesting characters. However, half way through the series it's almost as if another team took over, I won't say more as it would give away spoilers, but generally it introduces a bit of pervy fanservice, which seems strange as the first half of the series is exceptional without any of that and it does take away quite a chunk of integrity, which is a huge shame. I still have a few episodes to watch so maybe it'll redeem itself and I certainly wouldn't want to put anyone off as it's been brilliant in the first half. 6/10 (10/10 for the first half of the series though)

I loved Maleficent and Noah. I have also just watched the first 25 episodes of Sword Art Online and very impressed. I will wait for Season 2 to finish before I watch that (I like to watch one after the other).

I watched The Rover last night and was surprised with how enjoyable that is. Worth a look and great performances from Pearce and Patinson.

We had a blast from the past, Casablanca, the 70th Anniversary Blu-ray 4K transfer. What can one say, the cast, cinematography, script are superb. If anything it gets better with age, this film is at the top of the tree, a masterpiece. 10/10.

Any one seen The Purge : Anarchy?

I've had it downloaded for about a week now but held off watching because I'm saving it for a rainy day (not that we haven't had plenty lately !)

The Punished: war zone, brutally brilliant.

Just started watching 'give em' hell, Malone' so far so good, almost like 1940's gangsters in the modern day with a comic book twist, pretty violent, pretty good.
