current overclocked to 4.5ghz idle sits at 34c underload 63- 69c now need to tweak the cache and the memory , on 125 bclk memory 3000 MHz set to xmp ideas best place to start

cpu volts is 1.264, I played with the cache x34 cache voltage 1.25v does this seem right or is the volts to high? bclk is 125 , I can get 4.6 stable and 4.7 bench stable but not really played with the settings at the moment , cpu is a j batch
did have problems with the parts as I had a faulty mboard and faulty memory, but this is sorted now, temps were way off 50c idle and high 90s under load but when I checked the cpu block this was partially blocked with gunk, so gave the cooling a good flush now temps are back to normal how the gunk got there is beyond me ,

so played with the settings have got these so far
4.5 ghz 24/7 setup cpu is 1.235v bclk 125 xmp 3000 memory haven't touched the timings, cache x34 cache volts is 1.216 fully stable temps 34-36 idle 66-72 load
4.625 ghz cpu 1.25 bclk 125 xmp 3000 memory x34 cache 1.216v temps 36 idle 72 74 load stable
4.750 ghz cpu 1.345 bclk 125 xmp 3000 memory x34 cache 1.22v temps 38 idle 80- 92 load stable but far to hot and don't want to kill the cpu so am just going to play with the 4.5 and 4.6 settings
all on custom watercooling

any ideas to tweek more not sure what to do with memory settings never played with these before always left them on xmp graphics are all set at stock settings

Have you made anymore progress mate?

Just got a X99 SOC Champion here, will be buying some mems soon, and hopefully a 5960X, may have to go 5820K though.

Your 5960X looks good to me, don't know much about them yet though, but 4.75Ghz at that voltage looks good! What are you using for cooling?

I'll be using an Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler to start with, then if I'm happy I'll be going ss maybe dice

hi bud am using twin d5s in a xpsc dual bay reservoir a raystorm pro cpu block, a acool 480 rad and a coolgate 360 rad with 13/10 mm hard tube and I use ice dragon nano fluid, the d5s, one is for redundancy , haven't done much past few days not been well but will have a play tomorrow , those gigabyte soc boards are really good all I can say is the 5960 is superb, I had a 5820 got that to 4.625 stable but gave that to my son, if you can get the 5960 you won't be disappointed, as I said above I have never played with the mem settings so not sure where to start, need advice, as for cooling make sure you have a good case plenty of air flow and good cpu cooling as these chips do get hot very quick as you increase speeds, if ican help just drop us a message

Oh cool! Got a lot of cooling power there then!

My X99 is straight benching rig, so open test bed style. I'll play on air first then I'll probably put my single stage on it and then maybe move up to dry ice as I have a fusion 3.1 pot.

I'm not much of a memory guy either so got lots to learn there, hopefully I'll have some G.Skill 3200Mhz CL14 coming soon. Just got to decide on 5820K or 5960X? Ideally I want both lol

I'll get a thread going here when I get everything ;)

same as mate, lots to learn on the memory side, let us know when you get your fusion pot going would like to see what results you can get

Well I've just bought a 5960X so hopefully I can start to have a play next week :)

Have you done anymore yet mate? Any memory work?

Cool! Never used one either, often thought about getting one too for GPUs. Never sure which one to get? Think I'd go for the 790watt chiller. You going to try it on your 5960X?

Been playing with mine this eve, got the fastest R11.5 and R15 scores on air cooling on HWbot

mines only a titan 300 265w cooling , I didn't want a lot of noise ,was gona play with my 5960 see what I can get, should be here this week, is your cpu a j batch one mine is and is a good overclocker , aquatuning have got some good deals on those chillers at the moment if you look in clearance they have some that are half price and still with a years warranty

when it comes was thinking of putting the chiller just before the rad in the loop and then seeing if I could keep stardard settings no chiller then turning on for playing around don't know if that will work or not, think I will start with a dew point calculator and setting it just above the dew point and see what I can get and go from there fun time ahead me thinks lol just got another 32g of memory and got that stable, what have you got your chip up to so far? what voltages are you getting on the cpu

Alright fella, hows the chiller been doing for you? Sounds like a good idea setting it up that way, just flick it on as and when you decide you want to OC then off when you want to game etc.

Mines a J batch also, its a j50, think the better ones are the j6x.

Managed 4.5GHz at 1.3v Vcore, and 1.7v VCCIN ROG Real bench stable for 15mins

Managed 5.1GHz 1core 1thread at 1.5v I think it was. May buy some plastidip soon and insulate ready for phase and then eventually LN2, my 50L Dewar arrived couple weeks ago ;)

I'm having real trouble with my 5820k and getting a stable, 24/7 setup with both core and memory.

WIth everything set to auto I can run 4.6GHz easily and it's stable however as soon as I change memory from auto and set it manually or XMP it blue screens all over the shop.

What voltages am I looking at to stableise this? It's a common issue apparently if you believe the OcUK forums. I'm using Dominator 16GB (2x8GB) 3000
5820k with NH-D15S
Asus X99-E
16GB DDR4 HyperX C13 2666mhz
FE 1070
Super Flower 1000W Plat

what motherboard are you using , first I would set mem to xmp, 125 strap, 34 x cpu ratio, 1.3v cpu, and see if you can boot to bios, then work down or up to get your cpu volts, you could just have a bad 5820,i would set for the lower clock speed first {4250} as most 5820 should do this with ease, then tweak from there, x99 is well known for having issues at 3000mhz with some cpus,
