Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X

Post #1 by Frenzic » Tue Jul 19, 2016 1:31 am

New HEDT chips are coming next year with Core-i7 Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X using a new LGA-2066 socket. Upgrading next year (GPU) but not sure weather to bother with my chip etc. But with these beasts coming out it is VERY tempting. I just might have to scratch this upgrade itch. I have been good so far and waited out a couple of generations..... ;)

Saw this the other day, why is it do you think that Intel are coming out with 4 core Kaby Lake chips and 6 cores and above Skylake X chips? Why not just one or the other!? Could they not just skip Skylake and go Kaby Lake since its a new socket anyway...

It's Intels way of doing things, Process-Architecture-Optimization. It was called a Tick, Tock, cycle. They will get 3 cycles out of 14nm so Intel won't skip a cycle but yeah it would make sense lol :)

Do we have any idea when these will realistically be out? Been thinking about jumping on X99 and a 5960X but if these are out as soon as Kaby Lake, wondering if its worth me not worry about X99 HW-E and BW-E and just saving my money for Skylake X
