Fractal Define S fan Control

Post #1 by blindfitter » Sat Oct 24, 2015 3:12 pm

Hi all,

In the process of a new build, my ancient Lian-Li PC-70 is being replaced with a Fractal Define S.

Its coming along fine, those who know the case will be aware that there’s no 51/4” or 31/2” front bays, so no place to install my zalman fan controller.

So been trying to find a new way of fan control, this is what I have found so far.

PwM splitters and controllers http://stuccu.co.uk/s/Pwm+Splitter-MbSL ... mscklid%7D

Phobha 8 x 4pin http://www.amazon.com/Phobya-4-Pin-Spli ... B00OD7MO6E

Phanteks PH-PWHUB_01-PWM Fan Hub http://www.amazon.co.uk/Phanteks-PH-PWH ... 160%2C160_

Comments please

Something here will do I’m sure.

Here’s the dilemma, at present 1 have 3 x 120mm Yate Loons 77cfm 2200rpm and 2 x 140mm Fractal stock fans all are 3pin set at 5volt via splitters off psu.

As I would like the processor temp to control all fans how is the best way to achieve this, 3pin or 4pin fans?

Now to the Radiator, I had a bit more luck than Dagmar in fitting a 360 thermochill rad in the top, pictures will follow as I do my build project. It was mentioned that they are still a good radiator despite age, your suggestions for fan replacement would be welcome.

Next up pipe work, having done a few water-cooled builds, I quite fancy doing a rigid job, either copper or acrylic which fittings do you most prefer double ‘O’ ring pushfit or the single ‘O’ring with compression nut?

thanks Dave
