So my new board arrived and all seems well and i also made a discovery!! As i'm now benching in the colder regions @ -57c i needed to get a K type thermometer, which i managed to get a nice used one off the bay but what i didn't realise is that you can plug probes into the ROG OC panel!! This i never knew, bonus!!

Judging by your latest bench submissions you have everything straightened out and working better than ever, excellent submissions you have

New bios 0901 is out:

Fix the issue that the card installed on PCIE_X4_1 may be not detected if ASM106SE controller is disabled in BIOS.

Arne Saknussemm wrote:I haven't had time to investigate this properly yet but I have an STX and fitted it in black long slot between two SLId 980s....would not work!?¿ I thought it would...

Works in bottom red slot and leaves two GPUs at x16x16...

Will investigate more/confirm this.....don't know if it's a problem of my board or what?

Hmm seems this was the bug that was fixed in latest BIOS. I had the controller disabled giving me dead black slot...so for me the soundcard works perfectly with those drivers.

As for why those drivers...a friend recommended them and he knows this stuff inside out so I took his advice...don't know the technical details myself...

Choose low DPC latency...

New BIOS 1001 is out for RVE.... 28/01/2015... "improved system compatibility"...as usual shitty changelog :D

EDIT:

Digging about in it seems to have a new power phase management system that changes with current load instead of having to leave it on extreme for performance....going to try it out on ultra fast and fast response....

Hmm...I'm kind of wary about claiming miracles for a new BIOS...but I have to say this one has surprised me....I've trimmed 0.023v off for 4.4GHz and at the same time run my 3000 RAM at 3200 cas 14-15-15-34 but more importantly slashed secondary timings beyond where they would go before...

I'm kind of surprised/impressed/incredulous/doubting/chuffed

And another...

1201

Looks meaty...

1.Support USB 3.1
2.Support NVMe

NVMe is for stuff like http://ark.intel.com/products/79624/Intel-SSD-DC-P3700-Series-400GB-12-Height-PCIe-3_0-20nm-MLC

Bring it on...SATA is dead

Will stick with 1001 until I get one though....

Ooooo

Well, it seems 1201 has been disappeared!

I presume it is rubbish and needed updating...so probably best not to run it yet...wait for new version

Raja said 1201 has a problem with the ASM controller not detecting drives in UEFI mode. 1001 works best for most people, I believe they relaxed some memory timings and upped some voltage settings a tiny bit for better compatibility with the majority

Genuinely interesting that they would put 5th generation support in there. Broadwell-E end of this year anyone?

1401 is out but people are having no luck updating over on ROG I see...

I am staying with 1001...great for me...

Only upgrade if a decent NVMe M2 SSD comes out...

I am pondering on the Intel 750, I would just like to confirm that I could boot to Win 7, Win 8.1 has a driver, just not sure if the Intel driver could be installed during a Win 7 installation

That one failed for me as well. Bios is duff: not a UEFI BIOS

This 1401 is fine:

New bios 1502 - Adds support for 16gb DDR 4 Memory Modules:

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA ... S-1502.zip

This one is supposed to be a good one.

For those going to Windows 10 there are quite a few new drivers around:
