You want quad channel so 4x4 kit such as these ... d-kit.html a very good price indeed, just set an email/text alert, they get stock in regular but dont get many at a time.
Basically you want 4 sticks and i'd recommend G.Skill

I would say get a 4x4 kit that way you can bin sticks and have some chance of two of them being good clockers if you get my hazy statistical thinking...(which might be wrong but I can't be bothered to work it out)...for dual channel or quad channel use

I would say get G.Skill 3000 after my own experience with them....if you want to use them for anything like day to day you want to stay with 100 BCLK to take advantage of speedstep etc. and 3200 is a sweet spot on these sytems I think.

If pure OC then gamble on what the IMC can run but I reckon 3200 is shooting too high on 5820 which is lower binned silicon by default. 3000 quite high but doable...2666 maybe sweet for 5820?

My 3000 kit does 3200 1T at same 1.35volts up from xmp of 3000 2T and tightens up nicely at a bit higher 1.4 -1.475 volts Hynix ICs

so arne i understand it correct that you are saying : better not buy 3000mhz kit cause 5820 cant handel it most likely?
and both off you thank you for your advice! very much appreciated!

Hmmm what am I saying...thinking out loud really so....

and , I haven't had my hands on one...yet... but looking at top scores on the BOT there are none with anything above 3000MHz even in the records and those will be nice chips.

Paw had one and got 2666 memory...

I guess if you get a 3000 kit you could run it at 2800 or 2666 and tighten timings....or get a 2800 or 2666 kit and OC it?

I guess if it is pure benching you are after I'd get a 3000 kit because maybe you would want to change to 5930 or 5960 one day?

I can't remember I originally had all 3 CPU's, my 5820 was not a good overclocker but I don't remember it not being able to run my GSkill 3000mhz kit at 3000mhz
Actually here it is at 3200mhz ... 1905_marks
Maybe it's to ASUS OC socket, haven't had any other boards besides ASUS

Have tested two 5820k. Both did 3200 15-15-15. My kit, a hyper x predator @ 3000 c16 can't do lower than cl 15 though. So I'm thinking of getting a new kit. Looking at the gskill linked above. It seems like a good choice.

i am really amazed by the difference between asus x99 pro and gigabyte x99 ud4...
i can get higher clock with less volts on the core! the difference is about 100mhz, but uncore i have had up to 4ghz :D:D wile the gigabyte board couldnt get past 3,2ghz
conclusion: asus rocks :)
