MSi P55-GD80 + i7 870

Post #1 by darkage » Sat Jun 27, 2015 1:53 pm

hi
just put back my old lover now with a i7 870, but having some problems as i can get 4.4@1.40v easy, but as soon as i try to tight memory settings it starts to give 124 bsod's, put the vtt up to 1.35v but no go, so would like to know if it is a imc/cpu problem or i keep being the old noob of all times
the memory i use
ripjaws 1600cl8 (samsung ic) 2X2gb
pi 1600cl7 (psc x ic)2X2gb
dominator cl7 (bbse ic) 2X2gb with this kit i go easy 2000+ as long as i stick to cl9
using w.c. for now,later NH-D14
it is just for fun so no big deal if no one remenber this platform tips and tricks :-)

How tight are we talking here?

BBSE and PSC will be your best bets, 2000C7 mark with 1.85v through the ram should be enough even with very bad PSC or BBSE. Try increasing the trcd a bit on those modules if you want to get high clocks + low CL timing, that's the key to BBSE and PSC anyway.

For the BBSE kit I would start off with 8-11-7-24 @2000MHz with 1.75v and see where you can go from there :) (this is a very lose setting for the ram at this speed)

thanks for the kind help
as i was able to run the psc kit at 2400 9-10-9~1.70v in x79 / z97 i just thought it would be the same here, and the bbse kit 2000 7-8-7 ~1.65v is a no go also and it can do that in z97 easy
will try the dominator kit as michael k. (websmile) was kind enough to test them for me (in z87/97 thought) so i have a idea of the ic's i have
trfc ~~ 100 right + - ?
thanks again man!
regards
joao

First gen LGA 1156 is only rated to 2200MHz at the max on the IMC, 2000MHz is a safer bet.
