MSI Z170 XPOWER

Post #1 by RawZ » Tue Jul 28, 2015 12:27 am

Thought I'd create a little thread since this is going to be a motherboard of much interest by some of you guys.

From today through to Thursday we'll be releasing some teasers to media and on our social media but for ease sake, I'll update this thread with the info.

I can't give you specs guys.. NDA's and all that but it's going to be a very nice motherboard.

First tease of the week...

Image

OC Dashboard, found on the new MSI XPOWER, is extended by a cable to use separately from the motherboard when overclocking to avoid freezing of the overclocking buttons when using LN2.

Very nice feature, well done MSI for thinking about the extreme bencher. Here's hoping it performs great

Glad to see an external OC board that is simple to use. The ones on the current Giga/ASRock/Asus etc are great and all but the second you start freezing ram you can't really use them.....

Massive pain considering how big ram freezing has become recently, you can see why too with the performance increase to be had in XTU,Geekbench,Cinebench etc.

Trust WCCF to **** things up and spoil the party...

The game is given away but below tease for today was:

The new XPOWER motherboard is designed to provide gamers and overclockers something truly unique. Titanium on the in & outside. A unique silver PCB, heavy plated silver heatsinks and subtle PCB printing make the new XPOWER something special.

Wow 4605mhz crazy speed!

So Dancop has posted a result at 6.5ghz at full pot with 28c ambient, so with that in mind and crazy ram OC this platform is shaping up to be an overclockers dream and the Xpower is looking like the perfect tool for the job, can't wait for this.

Great looking board, I guess that this one will be a popular choice

Going by the subs on hwbot, benefits include full pot benching, wide variation of BCLK, memory bandwidth and potentially higher cpu clocks than haswell

Saw the Titanium through fbook last week, totally drooling over it!!! Also good to see that FIVR has been removed from CPU's and put back onto the boards, one less heat element removed :D
